Snap

University Project

2022

Snap is a screenless digital camera designed for wedding guests to capture real moments.

At the time of this project, as pandemic related restrictions were lifting. There was a surge in weddings and a surge in the average price people were willing to spend on weddings. This created a perfect opportunity for new wedding related products.

The cameras are ordered through the Snap website (and ideally through partnered wedding planning services such as The Knot. Once the cameras arrive, the QR code on the package is scanned and the cameras are registered through the Snap app. The cameras are distributed throughout the venue and used by guests. After the event, the cameras are returned to the box they arrived in, the included return shipping label is applied and the cameras get sent back to Snap. Twenty-four hours after the event, the photos become accessible to all guests through the app. Guests can choose to upload a selfie to easily sort all the photos in which they appear using facial recognition. Books, prints, and other physical copy materials can be ordered through the app.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Snap eliminates waste generated by standard disposable cameras that have an approximate life span of 1 week. The Snap camera’s enclosure is made of recycled aluminum (a material that is nearly infinitely recyclable). With a lifespan expectancy of 5+ years before service is necessary, the Snap camera is a far more sustainable option.
